Capital Tree Tour Promoting Community Mental Health (FREE to attend)

Saturday, October 1, 2022 (10:30 AM - 11:30 AM) (EDT)

Description

The idea that spending time in nature can make you feel better mentally and physically is one that seems almost intuitive. People who have been suffering from stress, depression, or trauma often spend time at the beach, mountains or woods to heal. But nature is not just wilderness. The benefits of nature can also be found in our downtown communities’ parks and green spaces.

The first week in October was named Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) by Congress in 1990. This year Intown Concord would like to promote this week with a special Capital Tree Tour promoting community mental health. This tour is free to attend and will be hosted by Robert W. Pollock, Jr. “Bob” and Ward 5's City Councilor, Stacey Brown.

Tour Guide Bios:

Robert W. Pollock, Jr. “Bob” served as Concord's first landscape architect, created the Landscape Design program at NHTI where he still teaches the Trees course, and gives guidance to the Tree Subcommittee of the City of Concord.

Stacey Brown is the current City Councilor for Ward 5 in Concord. She is a member of the Conservation Commission, the Tree Sub Committee, and the Energy and Environment Advisory Committee for the City.
