SUMMARY:Mending Workshop at Penumbra
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Visible Mending on 10/21 from 6:30-8 pm!\nMending gives us an opportunity to slow down\, get creative\, and practice sustainability in a hands-on way. When we take the time to repair our clothing\, we're choosing care over convenience and repair over replacement. In the process\, we often discover new ways to make our garments uniquely our own.We'll explore visible mending techniques that celebrate the wear and tear of our clothing. Bring a garment or textile with a hole\, tear\, stain\, or worn spot and we'll transform it using simple hand-stitching techniques\, reinforcement\, and creative design choices. We'll cover what to consider before getting started\, including materials\, repair strategies\, and decorative elements. \nThis workshop is as much about gathering and creating in community as it is about learning a new skill. You're welcome and wanted here regardless of your sewing experience - beginners are encouraged! This workshop is best suited for woven fabrics such as denim\, canvas\, linens\, and button-down shirts\, but feel free to bring any clothing or home textile that could use some care. Materials will be provided\, though you're welcome to bring any fabrics\, thread\, or tools you'd like to work with.
